How Do YOU Measure Up?

Measuring up to our own standards can be very tough, but trying to measure up to the ideals and preconceptions of others is impossible. One of the surest ways to damage our self-concept is to look outside of ourselves for a reference point to determine our worth. Comparing ourselves to the image of another and imagining that we have fallen short is a painful feeling. Why not abandon the whole idea? In the deepest part of your being, you know that you are perfect just as you are. You are the perfect expression of your own awareness, and that is just as it's meant to be.
Here are some words to encourage you to feel good about being yourself.
I lovingly acknowledge that all that I ever hoped to be and all that I still can be is contained within me. The true me cannot be measured; I am too vast. The true me cannot be compared; I am too unique. The true me cannot be improved; I am too wonderful. Just contemplating the beauty and goodness of the real me that lives within my greatest dreams makes me feel good. There is no need for me to prove my worth-- no one who matters needs to be convinced, and anyone who needs convincing doesn't matter. I give myself permission, right now, to feel great about being me.
